Collaborative Zines
Printed Matter
I have published a variety of zines (or DIY magazines) on topics ranging from gender and health to female cyclists and grieving the loss of a parent.
These Hysterical Women
‘These Hysterical Women’, published in 2017, is dedicated to opening up a discussion around feminism and health issues, specifically how gender influences the healing process, public perception, and quality of care. The zine features over a dozen submissions tackling issues such as mental health stigmas, sexuality, misogyny in the health industry, and motherhood.
“Our struggles are ubiquitous and important. For every story shared in this zine, there are thousands of others dealing with similar health issues, while also navigating a flawed healthcare system that is not immune to the racism, sexism, classism, and transphobia that prevails in the outside world beyond hospital doors.'“
Velo Vixen Zine
In 2014 and 2015, I published two zines to celebrate women who bike. Contributions were created by a range of individuals around the country and included essays, stories, and images in a classic zine cut and paste style.
Citizen Jane Film Festival + Tiny Circus
In 2014, I worked with Iowa-based arts collective Tiny Circus to co-lead a workshop on collaborative zinemaking with filmmakers, festival goers, and Stephens College students and faculty as part of Citizen Jane Film Festival to create a zine that explores why a feminist film festival like CJ is necessary in the world.
